Are you a visible mender interested in learning how to knit?

Do you love to crochet, but want to start exploring surface embroidery?

Have you mastered quilting and now want to pick up skills to design your own garments?

Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival is the event for you. Festival was designed for multifaceted crafters.

We curated educational opportunities at Festival to cater to every style of crafter, whether you knit, crochet, weave, spin fiber, quilt, sew, embroider, felt, or engage in paper crafts. Festival includes four packed days of Mini Labs, Craft Labs, Studio Sessions, and Workshops (outlined above) focusing on teaching new skills and elevating skill sets, inspiring crafters with unique make-and-take projects, and creating communal spaces where crafters can learn, share, and grow together.

Below, we’re going to highlight how crafters should approach building a schedule for Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival. There is plenty of time to shop, learn, and make together—you just have to think strategically and plan ahead!

How Do I Build My Schedule?

The first step to building your ideal visit to Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival is to identify which classes and teachers and/or teachers you don’t want to miss!

As you can see above, Friday through Sunday offer ample opportunity to work in time for shopping all the great, unique products and brands available on the Festival floor. We’ll recommend further below the best way to map out your shopping experience at Festival.

First, identifying the classes you’d like to take is most important because classes fill up and most are only offered once during Festival.

There are several ways to explore classes and teachers. If you’d like to review all of the teachers leading classes at Festival, head to our Teachers page:

The Teachers page includes a full, alphabetized list of every teacher, instructor, and talent leading a skills or project-based class at Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival. Click any name to open a pop-up window to see a list of all of their classes.

If you aren’t sure which teacher is leading classes on the craft you’d like to explore, it’s time to head to the Class Schedule page. Under Class Schedules, you’ll find the ability to filter available classes by:

  • Name – The name of the class
  • Track – General craft categories
  • Craft – Specific craft categories
  • Speakers – The name of the teacher
  • Date – The date of the class
  • Session Type – The type of class: Mini Lab, Craft Lab, Studio Session, Workshop, Craft Talk, Kids Camp
  • Skill Level – Children, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Using the Class filter on the Class Schedule page allows crafters to select the specific craft types they’d like to explore at Festival. Let’s explore building a class schedule at Festival for one of the multifaceted crafters we cited earlier:

The Visible Mending + Knitting Experience

Filter for your classes

Step 1: Click the Filter by Class button and select Knitting and Visible Mending from the dropdown menu.

If your browser truncates the dropdown menu and you can’t see your second craft category (in this case, Visible Mending), use the Search bar at the top of the Craft dropdown menu to type in your category.

Consider the Classes

You should now see every class at Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival for Knitting and Visible Mending. Take time to consider the full selection and identify the classes that best suit your desired experience.

Filter by Skill Level

Crafters can target their desired skill level using the Filter by Skill Level button.

If your skill levels vary across your chosen crafts, you must only select one craft when using the Filter by Skill Level button. Here, we’ve selected Knitting and Beginner to identify all of the classes suitable for a beginner knitter.

Choose Your Classes

Here, we’ve chosen two classes: one for Knitting and one for Visible Mending.

  • Our Knitting class is with Vickie Howell on Sunday, May 3, from 10:30 am to 11:15 am. It’s a Beginner level Mini Lab, so it’s a shorter class session geared towards beginner Knitting.
  • Our Visible Mending class is with Diana Li Fitzgerald on Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It’s an Intermediate level Workshop, so it’s a longer class session geared towards advanced Visible Mending.

This is a great curriculum for a beginner knitter with visible mending experience. It leaves this crafter’s schedule open on Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday to shop or take other class sessions.

Take notes as you build out your class schedule so it’s easy to curate your registration. Taking time to review classes will also inform which Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival Pass best fits your experience.
