Code of conduct.

Who This Applies To

This code applies to everyone at the Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival and on our digital platforms: attendees, exhibitors and their staff, teachers and speakers, volunteers, contractors, press and content creators, and our own team. It covers the show floor, classrooms, lounges and public areas of the venue, official festival events, the mobile app, and our social channels.

What We Expect

• Treat people with respect, including people whose craft, skill level, background or opinions differ from yours.
• Assume good faith and be generous with beginners. Most people in this hall were beginners recently.
• Ask before photographing or filming someone, and respect it when the answer is no.
• Ask before touching anyone's work, tools or materials.
• Follow instructions from festival staff, venue staff and security.

What Is Not Tolerated

• Harassment, intimidation or abuse of any kind, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or appearance.
• Unwelcome physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, or persistent unwanted approaches after being asked to stop.
• Threatening, violent or deliberately disruptive behaviour.
• Photographing or recording someone who has asked you not to.
• Damaging, stealing or copying exhibitors' products, designs or displays. See Legal Notice on trademarks and copyright.
• Misrepresenting who you are or who you represent, including impersonating festival staff.
• Selling or promoting from anywhere other than a contracted booth or an approved activity.

Photography and Filming

The festival is photographed and filmed by us and by accredited media for promotional use, and by attending you accept that you may appear in that material. If you would rather not, tell a member of staff or the photographer and we will work around you.

Attendees may take photographs for personal use. Exhibitors may restrict photography of their booth or products, and if a booth asks you not to photograph, respect it. Commercial or press filming requires accreditation.

Classes and Workshops

Classes have limited seats, and often materials kits allocated per person. Attend the sessions you booked, arrive on time, and let us know if you cannot make one so the seat can go to someone else. Follow safety instructions when a class involves tools, heat or sharp equipment.

Online and In the App

The same standards apply on the festival app and our social channels. Do not post harassing, abusive or deliberately misleading content, do not spam other users, and do not use contact details you obtain through the app for anything other than the purpose they were shared for.

Reporting a Problem

We take reports seriously and we handle them as discreetly as we can. You will not be penalised for making a report in good faith.

Consequences

Depending on what happened, we may issue a warning, require someone to leave a session, revoke a badge without refund, remove an exhibitor from the floor, decline future applications, or involve the venue and law enforcement. Decisions on this rest with Koelnmesse Inc. and are final.
